ENSEMBLE ALBUMS
SPANISH ANGEL Paul Winter Consort
The Paul Winter Consort's 1992 tour of Spain was their third visit and one of their most uplifting tours. Roused by fervent audiences, stimulated by the vibrant acoustics of classic old opera houses and concert halls, the Consort (Paul Winter, Paul Halley, Eugene Friesen, Glen Velez, Rhonda Larson, Eliot Wadiopian) gave dynamic performances which, captured on state-of-the-art recording equipment, have resulted in a favorite and Grammy-winning album.
"The Consort is a well-rehearsed, all-acoustic ensemble of extremely accomplished instrumentalists [..] 'Spanish Angel' is like a great classical album [..] cross-cultural and timeless." (WHOLE LIFE TIMES)
SUN SINGER Paul Winter
A lyrical and elegant trio album recorded in New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine, SUN SINGER features Paul Winter (soprano sax), Paul Halley (pipe organ, piano, harpsichord) and Glen Velez (hand percussion) .
Inspired by the Swedish sculptor Carl Milles' huge bronze statue of a man, head thrown back, singing a salute to the sun, SUN SINGER is a celebration of the sun and the different ways in which we experience it.
"Some of the loveliest and most inspiring playing you'll ever
hear" (SHOWCASE)
ICARUS Paul Winter Consort
This is a classic Consort album whose title song has become the group's signature piece. Produced by Beatles' mentor George Martin, who describes it as "the finest album I've ever made", ICARUS features members of the early Consort, including Ralph Towner, Paul McCandless, David Darling and the late Collin Walcott.
